What do I want to accomplish with my life?
Have you watched the film Dead Poets' Society (with the fabulous Ethan Hawke, drop-dead gorgeous Robert Sean Leonard and "I'm so jealous of his talent" Robin Williams)? "Carpe Diem..." "Sucking all the bone marrow out of life..."
That's what I dream of doing. I dream of gulping, grabbing, kidnapping Life and running like a wild-eyed madwoman with it. I want to live extensively and experimentally and extremely, experiencing the full spectrum of human experience and emotion, and pushing the limits of the natural world. I want to love, I want to fight, I want to create, I want to be a whirlwind in this world, and everyone turns in surprise when I'm done, and go "What just happened?" And then they open their eyes and see what I left, and think "Hmm... crazy."
"I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness;
I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people
and a light for the Gentiles,
to open eyes that are blind,
to free captives from prison
and to release from the dungeoun those who sit in darkness."
Isaiah 42:6-7That's what I want to do! I want God to make me a light for the Gentiles, to use me to open eyes that are crusted shut, to free captives from rusty chains and musty cells, and to hold the hands of those who sit in darkness, and take them out dancing into the sunlight!
I want to do that for women who have been trapped and limited and chained and hurt and broken by society, and I want to tell them about God's love and God's freedom, and I want to grow stronger with them, and watch their dreams release into reality and change this world! I want to do that for and with as many women as possible! No, with as many women as impossible!
I don't want to make a difference. Even a crab crawling sideways makes a difference in the sand. I want to make an IMPACT. I want to leave a legacy. I want to comfort, strengthen and inspire the people around me. I don't want to be famous. I want to bring freedom in, carried on the wings of angels, and make the true God famous.

No fair, that sounds way better than my response
In all seriousness, that's a dream I think we'd all do well to embrace.
What translation did you get that scripture quotation from?
Here's to making impacts and leaving legacies! :)
@iobairt@xanga - New International Version (NIV)
WOW! I aughta cut and paste that into my blog, because that's exactly what I'd have said, only better than if I'd said it. Er... that'd be plagiarism. Guess I wont, then.
Awesome, wonderful post!
@steadfastmom - I'm glad you like it. If it inspires you, go ahead and cut and paste. As long as it's just my prose and not my poetry, I'm not too fussed about 'plagiarism'.
